There is just so much to dunk on here that it is hard to know where to start.
The use of a touchscreen for a complex system like this is appropriate. The lack of using well-understood metaphors is not appropriate. Apple’s Home app does a much better job of this, and it controls way more stuff.
The other thing I didn’t really touch on that much is how the user experience is poor with this system due to its bugginess. Stuff regularly does not work at all.
